Did you Know (161) Mishloach Manos On Rosh Hashana

You have to send Misloach Monos on Rosh Hashana.

The Pri Chodosh writes, He sent Mishloach Manos 

to the poor, on Erev Rosh Hashana because the Navi

says  לכו אכלו משמנים ושתו ממתקים ושלחו מנות לאין נכון* 

Since the Gemoro (Beitzeh 15b) says this Pasuk

refers to a person who didn't make E.Tavshilin**

Harav Y.S. Elyashiv zt"l said the only time there 

is Chiyuv to send Misloach Monos is when R.H. falls on 

Thursday so Eiruv Tavshilin is required and someone 

forgot to make E.Tavshilin then there is a Chiyuv to 

send to him Mishloach Monos so he will have food 

for Shabbos.

** The Maharsha writes "The Gemoro didn't say 

sending to the poor because it says לאין נכון 

(didn't prepare) if for poor then it should 

have said לאין לו (Rashi in Nechemya does

say to the poor)
