PARSHAS HASHOVUA RIDDLE

Parshas Hashavua
Shemos 7:10

ויהי לתנין

Rashi explains תנין = נחש  (snake)
The שפתי חכמים quotes from the רד"ק
The word תנין when it's on dry land it
is a snake and when it is in water it is a fish.

In modern Hebrew, תנין means a
crocodile or an alligator. Here again,

it depends if it is on land or in  water.
