דלא חזיין לא לעניים
ולא לעשירים
The safe on 47th St. N.Y. was cracked on the
second day Yom Tov סוכות.
As a result, Berl's סוכה in Miami becomes פסול.
Poor Berl
1) Unprocessed flax cloth (גידולי קרקע) is kosher סכך
provided it isn't מקבל טומאה.
2) Fabric smaller than 3X3 טפחים
belonging to an
עשיר (anyone not poor ) is not מקבל טומאה
3) if it belongs to a poor person the שיעור for not being
מקבל טומאה needs to be smaller than 3X3 אצבעות
4) Berl covered his Sukkah with flax cloths all smaller
than 3X3 טפחים but larger than 3X3 אצבעות.
Berl as an עשיר has a Kosher Sukkah since it's smaller
than 3X3 טפחים
Berl as an עני (His whole fortune stolen from the safe)
has now a סוכה פסולה being it's covered by larger than
3X3 אצבעות which is מקבל טומאה for an עני.
